You will find Maverston Highland Estate is just 45 miles away from Inverness and minutes from the ancient town of Elgin.

It is also incredibly close to the quiet, unspoiled sands of the Moray coast – for sailing, wildlife-spotting and more. The spectacular beaches at Lossiemouth, Findhorn and Nairn are just a short drive away.

However, the estate feels remarkably private – the careful situation of the houses around the forest and the golf courses sees to that.

History

Nearby Pluscarden Abbey is unique – it is Britain’s sole medieval monastery which is still inhabited by monks, and being put to its original purpose. Incredibly, the abbey can trace its foundation back to 1230.

The nearest town, Elgin, also boasts a historical gem – the famous cathedral founded in the 13th century. The building – along with the town and the nearby settlement of Forres – was destroyed by the Wolf of Badenoch, the son of King Robert II.

Today, restoration work is helping to preserve this fine monument. Other attractions in Elgin include the Biblical Gardens and Spynie Palace.
